History
Bull Shoals Lake was created when Bull Shoals Dam, the fifth largest
in the nation at the time, was built in 1947-1951. Bull Shoals Dam
is one of the largest concrete dams in the nation, operated by the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Many dignitaries,
including the President of the United States, attended the dam dedication.
President Harry S. Truman traveled a majority of the way by train
and then finished his journey through the undeveloped and rough
Ozarks by motorcade.

stages of the lake filling in. They were taken by Chit
Chat Chaw's first owner, Bill Gill, from the resort.
